Saved my Denison Barb - miraculous product.
This product worked miracles. I have a 140 gallon freshwater community tank that has 3 Denison barbs (aka roseline sharks) among current residents. I’ve had them for a few years and they have gotten quite large (~5”). Recently, out of nowhere, one of them developed white patches on their dorsal side that continued to grow. He began swimming very weirdly, almost standing vertically in one place the entire day. I had lost another one like this a few years back and the local fish store thought it was a bacterial infection and had me treat the tank with some white powdery stuff. It did not work and I lost that one. This patch on this little guy kept getting bigger until it looked like he had a cotton ball on his back, I was really despairing and thought I was going to lose him.Went online and found that the cottony growth was probably a fungal infection, which led me to this product. Raced out to the local store and bought the last bottle they had in stock. Put it in the tank the same day after removing the carbon from my sump. It was truly miraculous that after only 1-2 days of treatment, he started improving, The large external fungal growth began separating from his dorsal side and completely fell off in another day, exposing the damage the fungus had caused. He began swimming much more normally and rejoined his 2 schooling mates as they darted about the tank. Also noticed he began eating again.I continued dosing for a week and then did a 25% water change. He was still not fully healed, his external scales had not grown back, so I have continued dosing for another week and will do a second water change. He continues to heal and is almost back to normal appearance and behavior again.I am so thankful for this product and how well it has worked for my fish. Can’t recommend it highly enough and plan on keeping some in stock.

Works!
Works really well for fungal growth on the inside of the tank and on the fish. It is gentle. Has a menthol smell to it but works pretty fast!

Good product
I gave this 4 stars because of the scent of it. It has a very strong mint/peppery smell that will linger in the water of your tank and hangs around in the air. I love that this bottle has a measuring cap on it that makes it handy to ensure I have measured out the correct dose. Other than the smell it is a great product! My only concern is that they recommend you treat the tank for 7 days without any active carbon and if you have high waste producing fish like goldfish that is not an option. I can usually go about 12 hours without active carbon before my fish start to show signs of ammonia distress. Since I cannot go an entire week minus active carbon I will only treat my main tank if I have several fish in need of it and salt did not help. Everyday I will pull out the active carbon for 5 hours then replace it and repeat until my fish are healed or for the max of 7 days. If I have a single fish that needs to be treated a hopsital tank is a must, or in my house hospital bucket (in case if I need to transport my fish). In the smaller hospital tank it is possible to go without active carbon if you do a water change everyday (20-30%).This is great for fin rot or any wounds on fish, but I highly recommend adding salt to your tank(if it's a freshwater tank for goldfish, etc) first before adding any chemical med. to the tank. Salt works wonders on fish, just make sure you use aquairium salt and not TABLE SALT.Also if your having fungus issues (cottony growth on the gills or around the face or on the fins) the fungus has to be coming from somewhere if you have an established tank. Clean all the hoses, gravel, decorations and filter, espically if it's a HOB (Hang-on-back of tank).Vinegar is a good, natural cleaner that will not hurt your fish if there is any residue after rising. Usually the cause of fungus is uneaten decaying food and decaying waste in the tank.

For Certain Things This Is A Great First Defense (IN DEPTH REVIEW)
(WARNING- This is an in depth review of this aquarium product. This review is to help those seriously interested in purchase make an informed buying decision. For a brief summary, see section marked THE BOTTOM LINE)-------------------I have been keeping fish for quite a few years now. I have a variety of tanks and fish. When it comes to a first defense, I want something natural and that is not going to strip my tank filters of beneficial bacteria. Let's see how Pimafix measures up.WHAT IS PIMAFIX LIKE?Pimafix is a natural extract of a plant in the myrtle family also known as West Indian Bay tree. It is a weak extract which helps nudge the water into a more healthy environment for the fish in certain instances. This comes in a bottle with a measuring cap on top. You use 5ml for every 10 gallons of water, and use daily for seven days, followed by at least 25% water change. The smell is a bit herby and the appearance is clear.WHAT DOES THIS TREAT?This is used primarily for fungal conditions such as fungus growths, mouth and body fungus, and even reddening of the fins and body- but not the kind that is sores- that is better addressed by APIs other product called Melafix which is derived from tea tree.HOW DOES THIS PERFORM?This performs well when used for cottony looking fungal growth. I had a fish with a small patch of cottony growth on a top fin. After a week of use of Pimafix, the growth has gone down by half and none of the other fish have shown signs of it.DOES THIS AFFECT THE FILTER?This does not throw off the biological filter of the tank if used as recommended with water changes every 5 to 7 days.ANY UNUSUAL THINGS?This does create a tremendous foam in a tank so don't panic if that happens to you. It is normal and will go away eventually.SENSITIVITIESI HIGHLY recommend that when you start using Pimafix that you use a smaller dose at first to test for any fish sensitivities. I have used this in all of my freshwater tanks, usually with no problem, including snails and shrimp. HOWEVER, I have had occasional fish which have personal allergic reactions or difficulties with Pimafix or Melafix. It is important that you either remove the sick fish into a hospital tank that you can isolate treatment and observation or at least start with smaller doses to test and see if any fish are allergic.THE BOTTOM LINEFor fungal conditions, if you use Pimafix as a first defense, it will help reduce and often reverse cottony looking fungal conditions and general body or fin reddening. For more serious conditions, something a bit more intense might be required.MY RATINGI really love Pimafix. It works well if you catch things early in your tanks, and often can go hand in hand with Melafix, depending on your fish.
